On Tuesday, 3 February 2026, in the presence of the Dean of the College (Asst. Prof. Dr. Saman Hussein Omer), the Assistant Dean (Dr. Soran Mamand Abdullah), faculty members, and students of the College of Languages, the Cultural Committee of the College of Languages organized a legal awareness panel entitled:
“Electronic Crimes and the Misuse of Mobile Phones.”
The panel was moderated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Barzan Sheikh Jaafar Ali, with the participation of Brigadier General Hakim Omar Rahman, Brigadier General Ahang Talib Abdulqader, and Lieutenant Colonel Kifah Hassan Ismail from the Community Police Department / Directorate of Erbil Governorate Police.
The panel addressed several important topics, including explaining the legal age of criminal responsibility – meaning from what age individuals are legally held accountable for criminal acts – as well as ways for users to protect themselves from criminal behavior, discussing crimes related to the misuse of communication devices, and highlighting their associated risks.
In another part of the panel, the officers referred to the penalties for the misuse of social media, which include imprisonment for a period of no less than six months and no more than five years, in addition to a fine of no less than one million and no more than five million (currency unspecified).
They also pointed out the hotline (07508088080), which is dedicated to individuals who are subjected to threats or social problems, allowing them to confidentially report cases through this line in order to investigate and arrest the perpetrators.

پانێڵەکە چەند بابەتێکی گرنگی لەخۆ گرتبوو، خستنەڕووی تەمەنی بەرپرسیاریەتی یاسایی تاوانکاری واتە کەسەکان لەچ تەمەنێکەوە بەرپرسیاریەتیان دێتە سەرشان لەڕووی تاوانکارییەوە وەچۆنیەتی خۆپاراستنی کەسی بەکارهێنەر لەکردارە تاوانکارییەکان وەباسکردن لەتاوانەکانی خراپ بەکارهێنانی ئامێرەکانی پەیوەندی کردن وە خستنەڕووی مەترسیەکانی.
